Door Decor

I'm running a little slow in getting my front door ready for Spring. My inspiration to get the door completed was my daughter. She is having a baby shower at her house tomorrow for a friend and wanted to get her door ready for the party. After she sent me a picture of her front porch, I was encouraged to get mine done. I'll show you hers in a minute.

Here is my door:

I took this shot from the side.

I always have trouble with birds building nests in my door decor so if anyone has a suggestion to prevent this, please share with me.

Here's a little before and after shot of the door. I think I am going to go by Michael's this week and pick up a few more flowers. I cannot take credit for the arrangement, I received the basket from some friends then had the arrangement made by a local shop but do think I'll add a few more flowers.

Now on to my daughter's door:

Her wreath came from Nell Hill's then her husband bought the urns and added the ferns. I think it turned out great.

Thanks for stopping by - Judy.

  1. Love the colorful arrangement for your door - it has real WOW pop factor, gorgeous!

And I love the understated elegance of your daughter's entry - it is gorgeous in its simplicity. Sometimes less is more.

Hope you have an enjoyable remainder of weekend!

  2. Yours is so pretty, and your daughters so neat. xx

  3. Love how pretty your door looks. I haven't done mine yet. Struggling with putting something up for Easter or just going right into spring.

  4. Hi! I had a robin to build her nest in one of my back door wreaths. They just abandon the nest after the season, so I had my husband to fumigate it. It is so securely built into it (a grapevine wreath), that I have been able to add flowers and use it year after year with that nest as an integral part of the design! I would NOT, however, want to do this with each and every wreath, so I understand your problem. You might contact a place like Wild Birds Unlimited ( to ask how to solve the dilemma. (There are 2 in KS, 1 on the MO side that I'm aware of.) Meanwhile, both your wreath and your daughter's are beautiful. Very different styles...I like that!

  5. How delightful that bouquet of Spring flowers is! Please keep in mind that when you are posting floral pictures, you may like to join my Floral Friday Fotos meme:

  6. Love the basket on your door. A great change from a traditional wreath.

  7. Your metal basket looks so lush and fresh! I have a wicker basket that is anxiously awaiting a spring look. Must go through the Sunday coupons to see what I can find at the hobby/fabric stores. I'm so late getting things done this season. Heck, I never finished putting out all of my Easter things~ LOL

  8. These are beautiful! Placing or hanging an owl (plastic or decorative) in the landscape somewhere may keep the birds from building nests. It works on the lake.

  9. Beautiful door arrangements! We have a bird who has thought the perfect spot for her nest was above our porch light fixture! I believe she finally learned that there is just not enough room for those twigs to take hold.
